Through the Opioid and Illicit Drug Work Group Ventura County Behavioral Health and Ventura County Sheriff’s Office collaborate to offer overdose rescue and treatment information to inmates, families, and visitors.




PARTNER: VENTURA COUNTY INTERAGENCY PHARMACEUTICAL CRIMES UNIT (PCU)

The Ventura County PCU, with members including the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Thousand Oaks Police Department, Ventura Police Department, and the DEA is on track to meet its goal of developing innovative approaches to dealing with the opioid epidemic.

The PCU’s primary mission is combating transfer of legal prescription medication to the illegal market. In addition, they work to identify and prevent new trends of abuse among youth and investigates overdose deaths due to both prescription medication and illicit drug use.

The Opioid and Illicit Drug Work Group's Enforcement and Security Goal is to support law enforcement, monitoring, and security to enhance public safety by deterring drug misuse, abuse and diversion.
